Krohn LBV 2017
Late Bottled Vintage, or LBV, was developed as a high-quality alternative to Vintage Port, aimed at more immediate consumption and more informal occasions. Like Vintage, LBV comes from excellent quality wines from a single harvest. However, while Vintage is bottled two years after the harvest, LBV is left for longer in the wooden vat and only bottled between the fourth and sixth year after the harvest. The wines used to produce Krohn LBV are chosen from the best and most full-bodied red Ports from vineyards in the Douro Valley.
Dark purple, with a brick red rim. Initial aromas of black plums, dried herbs and green nuances on the nose. On the palate juicy blackcurrant, cassis and a subtle touch of mint are supported by firm, vigorous tannins. A dense wine, with opulent chocolate, elegant spicy notes and wild raspberries filling the palate.
